Fashion brands dominated by once forbidden trends

The game of fashion can often be a harsh spectator sport whose fans can be very critical. For those dissuaded by the many supposed rules and regulations of fashion, you all can be put at ease. There's a known fact: There are no rules, per se.

The most dominant trend that has been spotted in the recent fashion weeks around the world is head-to-toe print.

Before, print was seen as "too much," loud and just everything a normal person did not want to be seen in.

Celebrities who were caught with the look were ridiculed and placed on "worst-dressed lists." Back in 2009, Katy Perry was snapped going bowling in this floral printed pantsuit, and since the incident, that outfit choice has been considered one of her worst fashion choices.

Could Perry just be one of those whose fashion choices are actually very forward instead of formidable?

Altuzarra's Spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection features multicolored prints in head to toe-all of which has received many approving nods.

Socks with sandals are fashion suicide and socks with heels are fashion death. When Lady Gaga was promoting her "Born This Way" album in Taiwan, one of the ways the pop artist accessorized her look was by wearing socks with heels. Like many Lady Gaga critics, the people thought this choice was weird and something only Lady Gaga herself would do. Many fashion brands, like ASOS, have gone in the socks and heels direction this fall and have actually created some really pleasant everyday looks.

The lesson to take from this is that the girl or guy in your class whose outfit choices seem out-of-the-decade may be setting the next trend.

Even more important, fashion shouldn't always be taken too seriously. No one is perfect and the same goes for fashion choices. It's natural to make mistakes and it's even better to take risks. Many of the fashion trends around are made from the risks that everyday people and designers take.

With that in mind, you don't always have to follow the rules or trends, wear what looks good on you, even if it's fashion faux pas.
