After what police described as a modified “Russian” roulette, a Gainesville man has been accused of trying to murder his older brother.

Julian Lee Myhand, 27, was arrested Saturday night on a charge of attempted homicide.

At about 11 p.m. police responded to a call that Myhand was holding his brother at gunpoint in a house on Southeast 46th Terrace, according to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrest report. The house is located less than a mile away from Eastside High School.

Myhand’s brother told police he was asleep in his room when he woke to Myhand touching his forehead and saying, “I’ll burn you,” according to the report.

When his brother stood up, Myhand pulled a revolver from his back pocket and pointed it at his face, according to the report. Myhand emptied five bullets from the gun, leaving one bullet in the chamber.

According to the report, Myhand told his brother he was going to kill him.

With the gun pointed at his brother, Myhand then pulled the trigger three times, according to the report. No bullets were fired. Immediately after Myhand pulled the trigger, police arrived and used a stun gun on him, according to the report.

Myhand’s father told police he witnessed the event and confirmed what Myhand’s brother said. According to the report, Myhand told police the gun he used did not belong to him.

As of Monday evening, Myhand remains in Alachua County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond. He faces a charge of attempted homicide.
