Grant Gergen is looking forward to taking a break from dining hall food, and now he can with a Spring promotion.

As part of the promotion, students who hold an open access meal plan can eat for free at new locations around campus.

Beginning at 4 p.m., students can eat at the Reitz Union Wendy’s from Jan. 19 to 23 and Panda Express from Jan. 26 to 30. From Feb. 2 to 6, they can grab Chick-fil-A at the Hub or Broward Dining Center. Each location will have select options to choose from.

More than 3,200 students, faculty and staff have a Spring meal plan, wrote Jill Rodriguez, Aramark marketing program manager, in an email. She said this is the second year the company offered the promotion.

“It is an added bonus for current meal plan holders and it may contribute to some additional participants,” Rodriguez wrote.

Savannah Padcett, a UF anthropology freshman, said she was content with the original meal plan dining locations.

“I really like Pollo Tropical, and it’s already on there,” Padcett, 19, said.

Gergen, a 19-year-old UF exploratory freshman, said he had plans to go to Wendy’s on Wednesday night, and he thinks Panda Express and Chick-fil-A should be added to the meal plan permanently.

“I was going to hit all those,” he said.
