Final interviews have begun in the search for a new dean for the UF Levin College of Law.
The four final candidates are Mark Alexander, Michael Cahill, Laura Rosenbury and Charles Tabb. Alexander is from Seton Hall University, Cahill from Brooklyn Law School, Rosenbury from Washington University and Tabb from the University of Illinois.
The finalists will visit the law school, where they will present to the faculty. The visits are public, so students interested in evaluating the prospective deans can attend.
This is the second time a group of finalists has been chosen in the search for a new dean.
Last Spring, three finalists were chosen before the search was called off.
In an email sent at the time of the decision, then-President Bernie Machen said he and the provost “did not find one (candidate) ideally suited to lead the college,” according to Alligator archives.
The new dean will take over for interim dean George Dawson. Dawson did not apply for the position because he will be retiring, according to an email sent by Donna Winchester, strategic communications director for UF.
On Tuesday, Cahill began the interviews. Alexander will interview next Tuesday. Tabb will be April 2, and Rosenbury will interview April 6. All of the interviews will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Chesterfield Smith Ceremonial Room 180.
