Gainesville Police arrested a Delray Beach man at a Saturday traffic stop who later told them he was hiding marijuana “behind his nuts.”
Officers arrested Sammy Lee Simmons, 22, on charges of marijuana possession and giving false identification, according to an arrest report.
In the early morning, officers stopped Simmons for an equipment violation and running a red light at the 600 block of West University Avenue.
His car smelled strongly of weed, according to the arrest report.
When asked for his license, Simmons gave the officer an identification card and told the officer he lost his driver’s license.
The person on the card did not look like Simmons, and he couldn’t give the officer his social security number or address, according to the report. He also hesitated while giving his date of birth.
After searching Simmons’ wallet, officers found his actual identity card. His driver’s license was suspended seven times for traffic fines and child support delinquency, according to the report.
When they reached the jail, Simmons removed a bag of 1.1 grams of marijuana from his genitals.
Officers booked Simmons into the Alachua County Jail at about 12:30 a.m., where he remained as of press time in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
