Gainesville Police arrested a local woman Sunday evening with a blood alcohol more than three times the legal limit after she reportedly hit two cars.

Just before 10:30 p.m., Sylvia Ramirez, 25, was driving her black Mazda east on Southwest Archer Road when she crashed into one car and sideswiped another car in the 3500 block of Southwest Archer Road. She continued driving after the crash but was followed by the driver of the second car, according to a police report.

Police stopped Ramirez at Southwest Second Avenue as she was traveling south on 34th Street. She began rambling and crying about her husband and the crash when police began to speak with her, according to the report.

Ramirez told police she was on her way home from work at Splitz Bowling Center, located at 1301 NW 76th Blvd., and that she had two drinks — a Jagerbomb and a Mudslide — before driving. She said she was involved in a crash and had left the scene, according to the report.

After her arrest, officers took Ramirez to the Gainesville Police Department for a breath test. She had a blood alcohol content of .247 and .256, according to the report. Splitz management declined to comment on the incident. Ramirez could not be reached for comment as of press time.

Police arrested her on DUI and hit-and-run charges. Officers took her to the Alachua County Jail, where she was released at about 1:15 p.m. Monday on her own recognizance.
