Gainesville Police arrested two men Thursday night after they beat up a person at the Sun Center.

At about 9:30 p.m., Thomas Fred Moss, 62, of Micanopy, and Bruce Wayne Mullins, 66, of Gainesville, were sitting on a brick wall at 101 Southeast Second Place when Mullins walked toward another man and punched him in the face, according to the report.

Mullins then walked back to the wall and sat down.

After the man confronted and pushed Mullins, Mullins and Moss began to assault him, according to the report. Once he fell to the floor, the men kicked him several times in the head area.

Moss then became upset and pulled scissors out of his pants pocket before attempting to stab the man, according to the report. After Mullins saw this, the two stopped.

Following the incident, blood covered the left side of the man’s face, and his right eye was swelling, according to the report.

Police arrested Moss on a charge of aggravated assault and Mullins on a charge of simple battery. Authorities took them to the Alachua County Jail where they remain, as of press time, in lieu of a $15,000 bond for Moss and a $3,000 bond for Mullins.
