A Gainesville man is accused of raping his girlfriend last year on her birthday.

Keenan Wayne Stickle, 25, was arrested Wednesday for sexual battery, according to a Gainesville Police Department arrest report. He was booked into the Alachua County Jail, where he remained as of Friday afternoon in lieu of a $50,000 bond, according to court records.

Stickle was last enrolled as a student at UF in 2014, wrote John Hines, a UF spokesperson, in an email. He was a junior with a major in History, Hines said.

Early May 31, Stickle and his then-girlfriend of about seven months were at his house, located at Northwest 16th Avenue, to celebrate her birthday, according to the report.

He gave her alcoholic beverages, which made her sick enough to vomit several times, and she fell asleep on his bed afterward, according to the report.

The woman woke up to Stickle raping her, according to the report. She told police she felt like she was paralyzed and couldn’t move. She later told authorities she previously told Stickle she didn’t want to have a sexual relationship with him.

Concerned she would contract an STD or be impregnated, she yelled, “Put on a f------ condom,” according to the report.

He did and then continued the rape, police said.

During a phone call set up by authorities, the woman told Stickle he sexually assaulted her, the report said.

“I know,” he replied, police said.

He later told police he felt sorry for what he did to his girlfriend on her birthday, the report said.

Since June of 2016, Stickle was employed by Follett Higher Education Group and worked in the UF Bookstore, according to Thomas Kline, a Follett representative. Follett Higher Education Group is a company that staffs and stocks school bookstores.

Kline could not confirm whether Stickle is still employed, but he did say, "(Stickle) is not allowed in the store at this point."
