Stage 7 reopening commemorated with food truck rally, art

Foodies and art lovers will unite Thursday when karaoke bar Stage 7 kicks off its Food Truck Rally for the Arts event.

The rally, which is also a soft opening for the karaoke bar, begins at 5 p.m. at 4110 SW 34th St.

It will have a ribbon cutting ceremony officiated by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce and an art display from the students at the Gainesville Association for the Creative Arts.

About five food trucks will be at the event, including Hoggtowne Lemonade Co., Humble Pie and Sababa UF, said John Bryan, Stage 7 marketing director. He said those who attend the event should expect to experience more than a standard food truck rally.

“What we’re offering is more of a food truck plus,” Bryan said. “On top of having a couple of vendors, we’ll possibly have some live music, some performances, and people can check out the karaoke bar itself.”

Ten percent of the profits will benefit the Gainesville Association for the Creative Arts, and Mayra Satterfield, program director for the association, said she is excited the bar is gathering support for local art.

“It’s important to recognize we need each other,” she said. “We can display little snippets of what our kids do throughout the year.”
