Three downtown nightclubs get new names, new looks

Three downtown Gainesville clubs are revamping their looks.

Whiskey Room, Moonshine and Rehab are getting new names - Whiskey Lounge, Moon and Chateau.

Ard Heshmat, the owner of these clubs, said she was excited about the changes.

"The club business has been going down over the past few years," Heshmat said. "Owners had no desire to spend money on their clubs."

Heshmat, who bought Boutiq five years ago, took over Whiskey Room, Moonshine and Rehab in March and began remodeling in April.

"We have a good reputation, " he said. "We started small with Boutiq, which is always packed, and now we are upgrading. We want to make these clubs more attractive."

Heshmat said Chateau will be more upscale than Rehab. The nightclub will have more VIP tables, a new DJ stand, additional seating and a 200-person circular bar, which will be three times the size of the one inside Whiskey Lounge.

He said the clubs will be "classier and more luxurious and offer a safe environment."

Whiskey Lounge is open, though redecorating is going on during the day. Chateau and Moon are closed while they are being renovated. Heshmat hopes they will be open and fully completed within the month.
