Students at UF will now have the ability to virtually chat with the members of the Student Government executive branch.

Student Body President Ian Green announced the addition of digital office hours via Facebook on Tuesday. The program is titled MeetingU.

The program allows students who may be unable to attend office hours in person to video chat with SG executive members, Green said.

“I don’t want Student Government to be looked at as some entity that is far away from the students but one that is very approachable and accessible,” Green said.

The Zoom platform was chosen to launch the digital office hours, Green said. The application is available to all students for free, whether they use Apple, Android or Windows devices.

Nobody has signed up for a meeting so far, Green said, but he is anticipating appointments in the future.

In-person office hours will still be held throughout the year, Green said.

“From what I know, I think it would be really beneficial,” Senate President Danielle Grosse said. “I am really excited to see Ian come and talk about it more next week.”

There was no senate meeting on the Tuesday the announcement was made.

Green will be addressing the Senate regarding the program at the regular SG meeting Tuesday, Grosse said.
