In the last UF Senate meeting before elections, Anthony Black (Access, District D) resigned from his seat in the chambers.

During public debate, Black said his departure was a result of party politics getting in the way of Student Government making a change for the Student Body.

“We spend so much time bickering back and forth, and last night’s debate was evidence of that,” Black said.“Please remember that your words carry enormous weight.”

After Black announced his resignation, the Senate passed two resolutions, a line item transfer, a replacement senator seat and committee seats by unanimous consent.

Matthew Hoeck, SG’s external affairs director, said the Gator Career Closet, a professional attire lending closet, has been used by two students. The Closet is not open, but it is serving students, he said.

“The response has been, really, one that reminds us of the Gator Good we can do together,” Hoeck said.

Passed by unanimous consent:

Resolution supporting the Gatorloop team in the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition

Resolution thanking UF’s Levin College of Law

Line item transfer for volunteers for international student affairs

Kelly O’Neil for replacement sophomore seat

Ian Green for Budget and Appropriations Committee
