Four Student Government elections violation complaints filed this week were withdrawn Thursday.

Two complaints from Students Party and two from the Swamp Party, were dropped, said Elections Commission Chairwoman Brianne Lewis.

Swamp Party filed one complaint Monday against Students Party candidate Michael Christ for unregistered language on a party flier, and a second against the party Tuesday for volunteers knocking on doors in areas where a “No Soliciting” sign was posted. After a group meeting, Swamp Party President Vivan Nguyen dropped its complaints when her party won 48 out of 50 senate seats Wednesday night.

“At this point we felt our victory was so great that it really spoke for itself,” she said. “We didn’t need to pursue those charges against the Students Party anymore.”

Students Party followed suit. Daniella Saetta, the party’s president, had filed a complaint for unregistered photos on the Swamp Party’s Facebook page and another for the Swamp Party’s showcasing of the now-retired Unite Party’s accomplishments.

“We just decided that we’d rather focus efforts on getting the party ready for the next election, not focus on pesky little arguments with Swamp Party,” she said. “It’s time to move on.”
