Police are increasing patrols on campus after a woman was sexually battered Saturday.

The woman was walking in the alleyway north of the Florida Gym and south of the Student Recreation & Fitness Center sometime between 8 and 10 p.m., said Maj. Brad Barber, a University Police spokesperson.

Police are looking at surveillance footage from the area, he said.

The incident was reported Sunday night by the woman’s supervisor who works in food services on campus, Barber said. The victim has not reached out to authorities.

When walking through the campus at night, Barber said he recommends walking with other people and in well-lit areas.

Anyone with information about the incident can call police at 352-392-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 352-372-7867.
