As a Christian, I cannot support the protests of the Westboro Baptist Church, and I hope other Christians alike will not follow this church’s views or be discouraged of their own faith.

I agree with Asa Walker of Westside Baptist Church that our mission as Christians is to love others no matter who or what they believe, even if it is contrary to Christian beliefs, such as homosexuality. If I were to confront someone who was gay and call him or her a sinner, that would make me a hypocrite because I am also a sinner. We are all sinners. Along with Westboro, the U.S. claims to be a Christian nation and then skips or ignores certain parts of the Bible and declares to speak the truth. God said that all people are equal, yet the U.S. once supported slavery and Westboro is protesting against African-Americans? I am confused because my God called me to speak the truth and to love all.

It breaks my heart that people who identify themselves as Christians, such as Westboro and shouting Turlington evangelists, ruin the name of all Christians and falsely distort the teachings of God.
