The Florida men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams completed their third day at the Auburn Invitational on Sunday.
The men’s team ended with seven individual event victories. They came from freshman Santi Corredor (500-yard free and 400-yard IM), sophomore Drew Clark (500-yard free), junior Stanley Wu (100-yard breastroke and 200-yard breaststroke), sophomore Victor Toth (100-yard free) and freshman Erge Gezmis (200-yard butterfly).
The women’s team did not fare as well, failing to place first in a single event during the three-day competition.
Friday resulted in three swimmers on the men’s team getting first when Corredor and Clark won their events. The men’s team also won their relay race on Friday, the 200-yard free. The women’s team did not have any victories and rarely finished in the top three.
Following the first day of swimming, coach Gregg Troy was happy about his teams’ performances.
"Good first day for us today,” Troy said in a release. “We need to continue to get better."
Saturday saw Corredor win another event when he got first in the 400-yard IM, along with Wu winning the 100-yard breastroke. Jessica Rodriguez had the best finish for the women, as she finished third in the 400-yard IM.
"Another good day for us today,” Troy said after Saturday’s conclusion. “The group continues to race well and we had a lot of personal bests again today.”
Sunday was the best day for the Gators, as they recorded four first-place finishes. Clark recorded the team’s first victory, was followed by wins from Toth, Wu and Gezmis. The best time for the women on Sunday was Madison Conway, as she finished fifth in the 200-yard backstroke.
The Gators will look to their next competition at the SEC Championships beginning on Feb. 14 in College Station, Texas.
