UF men's basketball coach Mike White speaks at his introductory press conference on May 11 in the Gator Room at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The Florida men’s basketball team has signed three incoming freshmen to National Letters of Intent who will join the team for the 2015-16 season, giving new coach Mike White his first recruits as head coach of the Gators.

KeVaughn Allen, a 6-foot-3 guard out of Little Rock, Arkansas, originally committed to former coach Billy Donovan in 2014, but he didn’t sign his NLI until April 15. When Donovan announced he was leaving UF to coach the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder on April 30, Allen’s stepfather announced on Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly that Allen’s request to be released from his commitment was “coming”. However, following a meeting with White, Allen reportedly decided to remain committed to Florida.

“I understand having second thoughts,” White said at his introductory press conference on May 11. “I’m not into begging. I think this place to a certain extent sells itself.”

The Gators will also add Kevarrius Hayes, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Live Oak, next season as well. Hayes is a four-star recruit according to ESPN, and he is ranked in the top 80 of the ESPN100 recruit rankings for the 2015 class along with Allen and Florida’s final incoming freshman, Keith Stone.

Stone is a 6-foot-7 forward out of Deerfield Beach, who, like Allen, chose to remain with the Gators after meeting with White.
