Adoree’ Jackson, the No. 6 recruit from the 2014 class, chose USC over Florida, LSU and UCLA on Wednesday afternoon in an announcement that aired live on ESPNU.
It’s been a whirlwind recruiting process for Jackson, who did an excellent job at giving no hints as to where that he was leaning.
Jackson, who hails from Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra High School, did not take an official visit to UF but took last minute trips to USC and UCLA last weekend.
Many thought Jackson’s interest in pursuing a track career while in college would swing him to UF, but he ended up signing as a Trojan.
Serra High is just 10 miles away from the USC campus. Jackson originally hails from Illinois.
Jackson could be used at both corner and wide receiver at Southern California, as leading receiver Marqise Lee declared for the NFL Draft following the 2013 season.
CBS Sports recruiting analyst Tom Lemming said in an interview Tuesday that Serra High is a school where the coaches like to get their kids to USC.
Family was likely also a factor in Jackson’s decision as well, as he moved to Los Angeles to live with his sister when he entered in high school.
Jackson is primarily a corner — a position at which UF is already pretty crowded with sophomore Vernon Hargreaves and early enrollee Jalen Tabor already on campus. Four-star cornerback Quincy Wilson also signed his LOI to Florida.
The last of Florida targets announcing this afternoon is four-star defensive end Lorenzo Carter out of Norcross, Ga.
Carter is picking between Florida, Georgia, LSU and Florida State.
