On Sunday, Florida safety Matt Elam was cited for alcohol possession for the second time in his career, according to a report by The Gainesville Sun.

The 19-year-old sophomore was seen by Gainesville Police officers at 100 NW 1st Ave. holding a plastic cup containing a dark liquid, the story states. When Elam noticed the officers, he immediately tossed the cup, which police said was filled with Hennessy cognac and Coca Cola.

After briefly being held by the police, Elam was released and given notice to appear in court.

Elam was previously charged in July last year for underage possession of alcohol after he was found with a Four Loko in a parking lot. He pled no contest to the charge and paid a $121 fine.

The safety appeared in all 13 games last season as a true freshman and had 22 tackles.

In the spring, Elam was listed as a starter at safety on UF coach Will Muschamp's initial depth chart, replacing departed senior Ahmad Black.
