It was just a matter of time.
It had been a 10-meet drought, with her last all-around win dating back to Feb. 12, 2016, against Arkansas last season.
But Friday night on the road at North Carolina, sophomore Alicia Boren collected the title, leading the Gators to a 197.325-194.300 win over the Tar Heels.
The Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, native also claimed the top score on floor with a 9.95, a collegiate best for her.
"We had someone new in the lineup for each event tonight,” Florida coach Jenny Rowland said in a release. “The team did a great job of accepting the challenge and stepping up to fill in for those who we were resting. They did a fabulous job. I couldn't be more proud of them.”
Boren’s win was also just the first time this season that someone other than junior Kennedy Baker won the all-around title for Florida, who only competed on the bars to rest her body.
And while Baker had a quiet night, teammate Alex McMurtry had her best performance to this point of the season.
The junior, who competed on vault, bars and beam, posted two 9.950s and 9.900, respectively, taking home all three event titles in front of the crowd at Carmichael Arena.
It was the first time she has won three event titles in the same meet.
Her contribution on beam helped Florida notch a team score of 49.425, the highest score in the nation the apparatus for teams on the road.
“It was great to see how they reacted to that first performance,” Rowland said. “They did a great job – kept their cool and didn't let it get to them. It's what they were supposed to do and what they are capable of doing.”
But while McMurtry had a breakout performance, Amelia Hundley stumbled.
The freshman posted an all-around score of 39.100, her lowest overall score this season, which included a 9.500 on floor.
In the previous two meets, she had failed to score lower than a 9.800 in any of her eight routines.
"I feel it was a solid meet,” Rowland said. “We have some work to do here and there. Landings were a little off, but at the same time to come out with the confidence in each other as a team was great.”
Next up, the Gators will host the Link to Pink meet on Friday against Rowland’s former team, Auburn.
