Four-star running back Jordan Scarlett (5-foot-11, 205 pounds, Fort Lauderdale Fla., St. Thomas Aquinas High) announced that he was verbally committed to Florida on Monday evening. Scarlett decommitted from the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday. He was previously committed to the Canes since July.

He chose Florida over Miami and Florida State on a taped interview segment that was posted on Fox Sports Florida’s website.

“I will be attending the University of Florida. Go Gators.” Scarlett said during the broadcast.

Scarlett took an official visit to Florida State last weekend, and visited Gainesville the weekend prior.

Scarlett can see the field immediately as a true freshman at Florida behind junior tailback Kelvin Taylor and sophomore Brandon Powell. During his sophomore season at St. Thomas Aquinas, Scarlett rushed for more than 1,300 yards and accounted for 22 touchdowns. In his senior campaign this past fall he averaged 7.9 yards per carry and scored 24 touchdowns.
