UF forward Savannah Jordan takes a shot on goal during Florida's 5-2 win against Iowa State on Aug. 19, 2016, at James G. Pressly Stadium.

Two matches into the season, No. 7 Florida has dominated its opponents.

The Gators won by a combined margin of 8-2 against visiting Iowa State and Florida Atlantic, notching the soccer program’s 200th home win.

But this Friday they will face their first true test when they travel nearly 2,800 miles to take on No. 5 Stanford, their first top-25 opponent of the season, to kick off a six-game road trip.

“I think any time you play a good team, it’s not so much a challenge, it’s just an opportunity,” coach Becky Burleigh said on Wednesday.

“It’s really fun. You get a really good chance to test yourself and see where your strengths and weaknesses lie.”

Burleigh has also been testing her younger players.

To this point in the season, 22 different Gators have seen the field, and 15 of them were underclassmen.

“It’s really important,” sophomore Sarah Troccoli said about her younger teammates contributing early.

“When this class graduates… it’s going to be a kind of a big loss. So people stepping up now are already getting them in the role for next year.”

Between UF’s young talent and standout senior forward Savannah Jordan, Stanford will have its hands full.

On Monday, Jordan was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week after she scored a goal in both of the first two matches.

Jordan has 67 career goals, passing former Gator Danielle Fotopoulos for the No. 3 spot on Florida’s career goals list.

Jordan has also played 160 minutes this season, the most of any of her teammates thus far.

“She’s great. She’s a great finisher,” sophomore Melanie Monteagudo said

“She makes teams focus on her so that other people can be open, which is helpful for us because other people get the opportunity to score.”

Factoring in the effects of a three-hour time change and a late start time, this weekend will be a good measuring stick for whether Florida has the ability and talent to play well on the road against a quality opponent.

“It’s just another experience for us as far as getting on the road and seeing what our team looks like on the road,” Burleigh said.

“We have a lot of people who never played on the road in a college game before."
