Drinking game: Thanksgiving with family edition

It’s that time of year again: the time to give thanks for our family and friends. Oftentimes, however, Thanksgiving becomes much more than that — with a heaping pile of drama served alongside the turkey. When it starts getting a bit too much to handle, you may have to turn to an alcoholic beverage or two. Here’s a drinking game to make it all a little more fun:

Take a sip…

  • Every time your mom apologizes for an overcooked item of food
  • When a minor spat breaks out over the canned-versus-fresh cranberries debate
  • When your dad complains about how full he is but then eats two more slices of pie
  • When someone yells at you about your posture or table manners

Take a shot…

  • When your grandma asks if you have a boyfriend or girlfriend
  • When your aunt starts making detailed lists of everything she has to get on Black Friday
  • Every time someone sneaks a piece of food to the dog
  • If there are already Christmas decorations up in your home
  • When a family member comments on your weight

Finish your drink…

  • When your uncle starts talking about Donald Trump
  • When the first family member falls asleep, probably at about 4 p.m.
  • When there’s an argument over football
  • When someone brings up a touchy subject at the table that leads to an extended awkward silence
