UF students will have a chance to talk to their Student Senators in an informal setting today.

Students can attend The Great Divide, a town hall forum, at Pugh Hall from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

A town hall forum is an informal meeting with leaders and their constituents. At this meeting, students can ask senators questions and discuss diversity and stereotypes that affect them.

“I want to bring forth a means of communication,” said Senate President Aundre Price.

Price said this will be his first initiative as Senate president.

The Senate co-sponsored the event with the Black Student Union’s Leadership Development Institute, or LDI, SAVANT and the Pride Student Union.

LDI has hosted The Great Divide on campus for at least two years, said LDI co-director Shanice Richardson. She said this is the first year the group has teamed up with Student Government.

“We want to make it bigger than ever,” Richardson said.

She said she wants students to leave the meeting understanding they are all Gators.

“We want to break common stereotypes,” she said.
