USPS office should not be closed

First, I would like to set aside any arguments that have to do with the current budget woes of the USPS.

The fact that its budget shortfall is the result of a determined effort to destroy it does not actually matter in this case.

The simple fact is Gainesville needs that distribution office.

The amount of time-sensitive mail that UF, Shands and the VA produce daily surely must outweigh the costs of trucking Gainesville’s mail up to Jacksonville to be processed.

The jobs created, the hassle removed and the traffic drawn away from congestion hotspots all make the Northwest 34th Street location ideal.

Not to mention the prevention of vinyl records warping in the back of a hot mail truck.
