Located on 1025 W. University Ave., Karma Cream is, in my opinion, one of Gainesville’s greatest hidden treasures.
It's set up like other small coffeeshops with tables all around for people to talk, eat and even study. Karma Cream is an extremely cozy environment for its patrons, which definitely makes any visit there a treat.
If you're a healthily conscious but have a sweet tooth, this is the place for you. Most products are all organic, and half of the ice cream flavor options are dairy-free. I’m not one to only eat organic foods or to make an extra effort to buy something because it is organic. However, I have to say there is something uniquely different about the ice cream they sell at Karma Cream.
It tastes much more pure and unadulterated compared to other ice creams I've had. Whether this is because it is all-organic or just that the ice cream is superior in taste in general, I may never know.
One of the flavors that sticks out to me the most at Karma Cream was Land of Milk and Honey. Although one of the simplest ice creams I have ever tasted, that is where it attained its delicious goodness and uniqueness: in its simplicity. It is a pure, creamy flavor with just the right amount of honey to give it the perfect amount of sweetness. There is a rotating flavor list, giving you the opportunity to try even more delicious flavor combinations.
Besides ice cream, Karma Cream also sells organic coffee, lattes and cappuccinos. You can even order your coffee poured over your ice cream, which I highly recommend. An assortment of cupcakes, cookies and other organic homemade baked goods are also available. From the ones I’ve tried, they’re quite good and are a great alternative if you don’t want ice cream.
One of the few negative things I have to say about Karma Cream is that it’s not necessarily the most student-friendly place when it comes to prices. The prices aren’t extremely unreasonable, but it’s nowhere near as cheap as going to Wendy’s for a Frosty. After all, it's all natural and organic.
Although not as often in the spotlight as Mochi, I strongly suggest all UF students make at least one trip to Karma Cream before they graduate. I have eaten my fair share of ice cream, and this is the most uniquely pure ice cream that I've ever tasted.
