The Florida women’s golf team received a huge boost to their 2021 recruiting class, adding Swedish golfer Ester Fägersten to their list of commits.

Fägersten collected a number of titles in Europe. She won the Swedish Junior Amateur Championship individually in 2018 and was awarded with a bronze medal in the 2018 European Young Masters.

Fägersten also did well in many international team events. Her team at the 2018 European Young Masters won a gold medal. She was also a part of the three straight gold medal-winning team in the Swedish Team Championship, winning the tournament in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Fägersten is a much-welcomed addition to a Gators squad that will be losing one of its top performers next fall in Addie Baggarly.

Head coach Emily Glaser said Fägersten is everything Florida looks for in a student athlete, and she is excited for her to get to Gainesville in the fall of 2021.

“She is a fierce competitor with a wealth of international playing experience,” Glaser said in a release. “She is also a conscientious and focused young woman on and off the golf course.”

Fägersten is eager to get to the United States and join the Gator Nation. She is excited to join up with the great players and coaches that make up the Florida women’s golf program.

“I am very excited to move to another country and have the possibility to join one of the best universities in the country, both in terms of academics and athletics,” she said.
