A motorcyclist died after crashing into a car at the intersection of Northeast 13th Street and East University Avenue on Sunday.

Police responded to the crash at about 5:53 p.m., according to Gainesville Police Department spokesperson Graham Glover. The motorcyclist had been weaving in and out of traffic when they crashed, Glover said.

The motorcyclist was taken to UF Health Shands Emergency Room. He suffered life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital.

The driver of the car was also taken to Shands ER, but they sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

No roads closed as a result of the crash, Glover said.

In a Facebook post, GPD offered condolences to the family of the motorcyclist. The police department also warned drivers to practice safe driving skills.

Glover said GPD’s Traffic Safety Unit is currently investigating this crash.
