Santa Fe College COVID-19 update: Four positive cases were reported

The college’s total number of reported positive cases is now 761

Santa Fe College reported four positive student COVID-19 cases between June 2 and Monday.

The college’s total number of reported positive cases from March 2020 to Monday is 761, of which 703 are student cases, and 58 are employee cases, according to a report provided by Jay Anderson, the college’s communications manager.

The college opened one employee file and 12 student files, or case investigations, over the past two weeks, and one student who tested positive may have been on-site while carrying the virus, according to the report.

Since March 2020, 30.84% of the college’s 2,468 opened files reported a positive COVID-19 test.

All Santa Fe College students who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, who suspect they have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 or who have tested positive for the virus within the past 10 days are required to complete a confidential disclosure form, according to the college’s COVID-19 disclosure form

Santa Fe College’s Student Life reported students should be prepared to speak about their health to a college contact tracer who will call students as a follow-up usually within 24 hours.

People are not required to wear masks outdoors on campus, and at the beginning of Summer B, June 28, masks will no longer be required indoors, according to a May 24 press release. The college is working on having another vaccination opportunity at the college’s northwest campus this Summer, according to the report.
