UF gymnast Nya Reed competes in a home meet against Missouri Jan. 11, 2019. Reed announced she will return for her fifth year Friday.

Fifth-year gymnast Nya Reed will return to the Gators and wear the orange and blue leotard for one more year.

Reed announced her return for the upcoming season via Twitter Saturday with a video of her highlights from last season captioned “Last ride.” UF also announced former Gators gymnast Megan Skaggs as a new assistant coach earlier this week.

The Maryland native was an All-American in the floor exercise last season. Reed was also a first-team selection for the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association regular-season awards and second-team on the vault her senior year.

The highest scores of her collegiate career came during Florida’s nationally televised meet against Alabama last season, when Reed earned a perfect 10 on the floor and a 9.975 on vault.

Reed's decision to come back for a fifth year came less than a month after teammate Trinity Thomas announced she would return for one final season in Gainesville.

Thomas and Reed’s return reload a Florida team that finished only .112 points shy of the Oklahoma Sooners for the 2022 national championship.
