Two women are facing charges for financially exploiting and scheming to take the home of an elderly man with whom they were living.

According to the arrest report, Corina London, 45, and her girlfriend, Ciera Rye, 31, were arrested on Tuesday by deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office on charges of exploiting the elderly and fraud.

In August 2018, the victim told his daughter and son-in-law that London and Rye had been pressuring him to transfer the deed of his $303,899 home into their names.

According to the report, in August 2019, Gainesville police said the victim reached out to an attorney in hopes of signing the deed over to London and Rye. The attorney sent a paralegal, who refused to assist the victim with his request.

Both London and Rye lived with the 93-year-old victim at his residence in the Forest Ridge neighborhood, the report said.

London, who claimed to be the victim’s caretaker, was already a suspect in an investigation last year for defrauding the same victim of hundreds of thousands of dollars, the report said.

London’s bond is set for $25,000 and Rye’s is set for $10,000. As of Thursday evening, both women are still being held in Alachua County Jail.
