A nude man ran two miles for help to a Kangaroo Express early Tuesday in search for help after claiming he had just been robbed at gunpoint, Gainesville Police said.

Officers responded to the convenience store near Canopy Apartments at 4:14 a.m., GPD spokesperson Officer Ben Tobias wrote in an email. The man told authorities two people dragged him from the roadway to the front of Southern Pines Apartments, located at 4117 SW 17th Place.

The man said they forced him to the ground at gunpoint and took his clothing, Tobias said. They beat him and hit him over the head with a vase.

The man was able to get up and run but one of the strangers shot twice at him but missed, Tobias said.

Police found witnesses and located a crime scene in front of a Southern Pines apartment, Tobias said. No suspect information has been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
