The Harn Museum of Art is featuring Gainesville’s newest brewery at its third Harn on Tap event.

The event at Cypress & Grove Brewing Company will be held tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Its purpose is to celebrate art outside the museum and support local businesses, said Allison Hudson, assistant director of development at the museum.

Hudson calls the events “friend-raisers" because they give the community a chance to create relationships that are fostered by the Harn, while raising money.

Cypress & Grove, located at 1001 NW Fourth St., opened June 2017 in an old ice plant, said Anna Heineman, one of the brewery’s four owners.

“Because we are nestled right in the center of all these neighborhoods, it was — back in the day — the place to go get ice for your party,” she said.

The brewery makes their six seasonal beers by pulling water from the aquifer using the plant’s original well, Heineman said.

No reservations are needed for the event. A donation of $20 is encouraged at the door but it is not necessary, said Jess Berube, communications specialist at the Harn. There will be raffles and prizes every half-hour.

"If you donate $20, you do get a free pint,” Berube said. “Cypress & Grove will donate $1 back (to the Harn) for every beer that they sell."

The Humble Wood Fire pizza food truck will also be there. Hudson said not only is its pizza amazing, but it will be donating a percentage of its profits from the night to the Harn.

Heineman said acoustic guitarist Barbara Paul will also be performing. There will be games like foosball, pool, Jenga and cornhole, making it a family-friendly night.

“We are still a gathering place for people to seek solace from the heat and to come with your family to enjoy a cold brew,” Heineman said, “but we are now much more than just an ice plant.”
