A woman used two elderly people’s credit cards without permission and spent $1,600 on one of the cards, deputies said.
Jazzmine Green, 22, of Gainesville, was arrested on a warrant for stealing from the elderly on two separate incidents.
Between Dec. 10, 2017, and Feb. 6, 2018, Green spent about $1,600 on a credit card she stole from an 87-year-old woman, according to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office warrant affidavit. Green used it multiple times to pay off a Sprint bill and purchase other items.
The woman’s husband told The Alligator Green was a caretaker of the victim for a couple of months.
“We were really surprised and dismayed when we found out that it was Jazzmine who had done this,” the husband said.
On March 28, 2018, a sheriff’s office deputy questioned Green at her home about her being a suspect in another fraud case, the affidavit said.
Green told the officer she knowingly used the woman’s credit card between Sept. 27, 2016, and Dec. 28, 2016, to purchase items without her knowing, the affidavit said.
Green was charged with fraudulently using the ID of an elderly victim, exploitation of the elderly, illegally using credit cards and two counts of grand theft, the affidavit said.
She was released from the Alachua County Jail on her own recognizance Tuesday afternoon.
Green’s cell phone number on the affidavit was invalid, and she could not be reached for comment.
