Fall is probably one of the best times of the year. It brings relief from the summer heat Florida so graciously provides. It brings SEC football, during which we get to go cheer on our Gators in The Swamp.
"Friends" is one of my all-time favorite TV shows. I can always count on an entertaining 30 minutes whenever I turn it on.
College is rough. You’re expected to figure out exactly what you intend to do with the rest of your life in a year or two. Some people seem to have it all figured out, and you probably think to yourself, “Why can’t I be him or her?" But believe me when I say, I’ve been there. I still am there.
Money makes the world go ‘round. At least, that’s what I have always heard. I might come off as sounding a little crazy or “cliché” when I say, money is not everything, but it really isn’t. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s important, but it shouldn’t be your sole rationale when making decisions.
Pay it forward.
You are beautiful. Have you ever looked into the mirror and told yourself that? I am beautiful. Three very simple words that encompass so much. Beauty is not just someone’s outward appearance, it is their spirit. It is who they are on the inside. I am a firm believer in that beauty shines from the inside out. I see so many people, men and women alike, who stare at themselves in the mirror with disdain. Do they not see how amazing they are? Florence gave me more in a mere six weeks than college has given me as a whole in two years. I came into college with no sense of direction. To be honest, my only purpose for majoring in engineering was pleasing my family. For the past few years, I have been desperately searching for myself to no avail. I did not feel the need to do well in my classes, I spread myself too thin amongst clubs in an attempt to find someplace I belonged, and I just was not happy.
Have you ever considered the effect social media has on you? Can you go one day without checking your Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter accounts? Almost everyone I know, including myself, has one of these applications on their smartphones. We want people to know all about our lives (the good, filtered parts of course) and "like" it.
Italy is a wonderful teacher, probably the best teacher around if you’re in the business of learning how to appreciate life. The secret? That’s simple, it's simplicity! Simplicity can translate into enjoying the small, seemingly insignificant aspects of life. Eating, strolling along a quiet street, cooking up a storm, talking and more talking–the parts of life that often are taken for granted suddenly become some of life's greatest gifts.
Respect. The simple seven letter word that contributes to the foundation on which the world is built. You respect others, they respect you. When the world functions in this fashion, which it never seems to do, everything is happy and peaceful. However, there is also a flip side. This side is when respect is lost in translation. You believe you are showing respect to a person, but they interpret it as the complete opposite.
