Ladraa shows the map of his 3,000 mile trek on foot from his home country of Sweden to Palestine. After reading about the injustices experienced by the Palestinian people, Ladraa decided to make the 11-month journey to bring awareness to human rights violations. "I know that most people don't know the story of Palestine," Ladraa said, "I just want the violence to stop and human rights to be respected."

Over 500 runners were expected at the first Pumpkin Run 5k at Depot Park on Saturday morning. Runners received a shirt, pumpkin bread and a coupon for a free pumpkin from the Buy A Pumpkin Feed A Child pumpkin patch. Proceeds from the race went to feeding hungry children in Alachua County and Chiquimula, Guatemala.

Gainesville's Peanut Patch and Corn Maze will be open through October 28th. During the day, family friendly attractions like the kiddie corner, hay ride,and kiddie maze are open. After 8 p.m. three mazes are open: the kiddie maze, the regular corn maze and the haunted corn maze. The hayride also becomes a haunted attraction.

Forty-nine shirts lined the walkway at Depot Park on Oct. 4, 2018, during the Domestic Violence Community Vigil and Clothesline Project Exhibit. The Clothesline Project began in 1990 and was created to honor survivors of domestic violence and educate others about the reality of abuse. The shirts were decorated by women and children who survived domestic violence.

Ashley Rosser, a 21-year-old UF advertising senior, serves beer from Swamp Head Brewery at the second annual Oktoberfest held at Audi Gainesville on Saturday. Rosser was one of several members of Delta Nu Zeta who volunteered at the event with the Ronald McDonald House. All proceeds from the event were donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Hwang, who came to America as a refugee herself, is involved extensively in both local and national refugee advocacy programs.

"I do paint outs, but I have another job so this is when I get to paint,” he said. “I take time off and come out and paint with everybody.”
