Florida’s shooting struggles lead No. 5 Kansas State to victory Saturday

The Florida Gators (12-8, 5-3 SEC) visit the Little Apple in Manhattan, Kansas, to play the No. 5 Kansas State Wildcats (17-3, 6-2 BIG 12) Saturday at 6 p.m.
The Florida Gators (12-8, 5-3 SEC) defeated the Gamecocks (8-12, 1-6 SEC) 81-60 in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center Wednesday night. Florida shot 47% in the game and outscored South Carolina 40-26 in the paint.
The Gators (11-8, SEC 4-3) won one of the two games — each being decided by two points. They’re ranked 13th in defensive efficiency, according to KenPom.
The Gators are in the midst of their lowest point of the season. Florida dropped four out of its last five games, all against Southeastern Conference opponents.
The Florida Gators (13-7, 2-5 SEC) defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores (9-12, 0-7 SEC) 73-55 to snap a four-game conference losing streak. UF outscored Vanderbilt 48-24 in the paint and finished with seven more rebounds than the Commodores.
Florida (11-8, SEC 4-3) defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs (12-7, SEC 1-6) 61-59 Saturday. The Gators held Mississippi State to 39% shooting. UF held its opponent to less than 40% from the floor for the 10th time in its last 12 games.
The Florida Gators travel to Starkville, Mississippi, to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The game will mark UF’s first time in the Magnolia State this season.
The Florida Gators (12-7, 1-5 SEC) lost 74-56 to Tennessee (15-6, 7-0 SEC). UT outscored the Gators by 21 after the first quarter. The Lady Vols also outscored the Gators 44-26 in the paint.
The Florida Gators (10-8, 3-3 SEC) were defeated by the Aggies (13-5, 5-0 SEC) 54-52 Wednesday night in College Station, Texas. The loss snapped Florida’s three-game winning streak.
The Gators (10-7, 3-2 SEC) continue to build momentum as they head past the midway point of the season. Florida secured its first SEC win against the Georgia Bulldogs and followed it up with two more wins against Louisiana State and Missouri. Their defense has been a point of emphasis over the winning streak.
Florida graduate student forward Colin Castleton was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week Monday. It marks his fourth career SEC Player of the Week honor and his first this season.

Florida (9-7, 2-2 SEC) and Missouri (13-3, 2-2 SEC) will have a chance to get above .500 in conference play with a victory.
The Gators (9-7, 2-2 SEC) defeated LSU (12-4, 1-3 SEC) 67-56 Tuesday night in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Florida used the charity stripe to its advantage all night. It finished 24-32 from the free throw line, while the Tigers only managed 16 attempts. UF also outscored LSU 23-5 in points off of turnovers.
After defeating the Georgia Bulldogs at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center Saturday, the Gators are traveling to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to face the Louisiana State Tigers. A win could move UF to .500 in conference play.
Florida Gators men's basketball began Southeastern Conference play with back-to-back one-possession losses. In a game against their former head coach Mike White and the Georgia Bulldogs, the Gators won their first SEC game.

Florida (8-7, 1-2 SEC) defeated Georgia (11-4, 1-1 SEC) 82-75 Saturday to earn its first SEC victory of the season. Fifth-year forward Colin Castleton finished the game with a season-high seven blocks.
