Fresh off his visit to Gainesville this past weekend, Louisiana Tech forward Anthony Duruji is joining the Florida Gators men’s basketball team.
Two UF men’s basketball players’ names are in the NCAA transfer portal.
Stadium’s Jeff Goodman reported that the sophomore officially committed to the Gators Monday afternoon.
Florida lands a big-time transfer: Louisiana Tech 6-foot-7 sophomore forward Anthony Duruji (12.2 peg, 6.2 rpg) told @Stadium he has committed to the Gators.— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanHoops) April 15, 2019
“After speaking with my family, I’ve decided to take advantage of a new opportunity.” said a post on Duruji’s Twitter account.

The 6-foot-7, 215-pounder averaged 12.2 points per game for Louisiana Tech during the 2018-19 season, while hauling in a team-high 6.2 rebounds per game. He also led the team in blocks with 40 on the season (averaged 1.2 per game).
Duruji will likely sit out the upcoming season per the NCAA transfer rules, but he will have two years of remaining eligibility following the 2019-20 season.
The Germantown, Maryland, native has plenty of athleticism and will add size to a Florida team that needs it, as the Gators will be without big men Kevarrius Hayes and Keith Stone, who announced his transfer in March.
