Four Florida bands rocked High Dive last Friday for its seventh birthday party.

The Supervillains, a reggae rock band from Orlando, finished their summer tour last weekend. Dominic Maresco, lead vocalist and drummer, expressed how great it was to be back in Florida, during the show.

They may have been there for Supervillains, but the house went wild for the openers, too. The night started with 2ndhnd6toys. Then Tamayo took the stage. This mix of undergraduate and graduate students has only been together officially since January, but they performed as if it’s been much longer.

Next up: Skunkape, another reggae rock band, was the perfect predecessor to the Supervillains. This Ocala band is up-and-coming with its first headlining show approaching next month. The bandmates have a palpable chemistry, and Taylor Johnson, the lead singer, has a talent for vitalizing a crowd.

The night was a roaring event to celebrate one of Gainesville’s gems: High Dive.
