UF students with a taste for electronic music may be able to attend one of the largest electronic music festivals in the world in March for $5 — and help a greater cause.

The UF chapter of Nourish International, a student-run, nonprofit organization, is hosting a raffle with a prize of two tickets to the first weekend of Ultra Music Festival in Miami.

The winner of the raffle, which began in December, will be announced Friday, said Katie Faughnan, head director of UF’s Nourish chapter.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, students interested in purchasing raffle tickets can go to Turlington Plaza. They can also enter online by visiting the raffle’s Facebook page.

So far, the organization sold about 115 raffle tickets and raised about $575, said the 19-year-old economics and political science sophomore.

All of the raffle’s proceeds will go toward a sustainable development project to teach computer software to high school students in the Dominican Republic, said Amanda Arevalo, the organization’s ventures director.

Ultra’s coordinators donated the two tickets.

“I think the amount I paid was fair, especially if I win the raffle. Those tickets are valued at $600,”said Neir Benyamin, a 20-year-old UF industrial and systems engineering sophomore.
