Submit a column to The Alligator

Thank you for your interest in submitting a guest column or letter to the editor. 

All submissions must be original and exclusive to The Alligator; we do not allow cross publication. Submissions will be acknowledged within a week of receiving them — though not all submissions will be published. We reserve the right to edit for length, grammar, style and libel. 

Please include your affiliation with UF or connection to Gainesville, as well as your phone number and email address. If you are a student, include your age, major and year. We do not publish anonymous submissions.

Letters to the editor should be no more than 250 words and refer to an article that was published in the last week. 

Guest columns should be around 600 words and share an opinion or perspective on a topic in the news. We are especially interested in guest columns with opinions based on personal experiences. We encourage you to include references and hyperlinks to reliable sources. 

If we decide to publish your letter or guest column, we will reach out to get a headshot, or head-and-shoulders picture, of you.
