Welcome back to Gainesville, coach.

We can only imagine the nightmare of a migraine Will Muschamp got when he learned of Janoris Jenkins’ arrest for drug possession this weekend.

Of course, we’re disappointed whenever our local stars find themselves in the spotlight for the wrong reasons, but we can begin to fathom the sinking feeling the new coach got.

Just a month ago, Muschamp told The Gator Nation that he was implementing a new plan to keep the university’s image clean and to hold players accountable for their off-the-field actions.

Unfortunately, the time to test his new attitude came a bit earlier than expected.

Jenkins has already cast a shadow on the “Gator Way” and caused his coach even more stress while Muschamp struggles with the incoming recruiting class in the days before National Signing Day.

It may be difficult to break the string of the criminal behavior of UF athletes, based solely on the impetus of history.

After all, most of us can remember the names of at least a handful of arrested Gators. Need we bring up Carlos Dunlap?

While questions flew about how Jenkins would be disciplined by the team, a larger question formed in our minds: Why don’t our athletes play by the rules?
