The Harn Museum of Art celebrated its 20th birthday Friday.
The museum’s founders and greatest supporters attended the “20 Candles: Come As You Art!” birthday party with coffee and birthday cake.
Tickets ranged from $20 for one person to $20,000 for different packages, and proceeds will fund exhibits at the museum, including framing, publicity and conservation.
“We are a resource for the campus,” said Tami Wroath, director of marketing and public relations for the museum. “We want to weave the museum into the academic fabric of the university.”
The party started at 6 p.m. with dinner for the guests who gave bigger donations. Entry times were staggered after that.
No Southern Accent, a UF a capella group, sang “Happy Birthday” as the guests left dinner. Shortly after, the Pazeni Sauti Africa Choir performed.
One of the largest exhibits in the museum, “Class Pictures,” was created by Dawoud Bey as part of his First-Year Florida Project. The gallery was filled with photographs of UF freshman and quotes about their view of art.
