UF Registrar Office staff temporarily moved after electrical outage

After lights went out in parts of Criser Hall and Peabody Hall, the UF Registrar Office had to move on the first day of undergraduate classes.

An electrical outage was caused by a plumbing leak Wednesday morning, said UF spokesperson Steve Orlando. Office staff has been moved to other on-campus locations to serve students, Orlando said.

The UF Bursar and Student Financial Affairs have been temporarily moved to Smathers Library East in Room 100. The Dean of Students staff was split up in multiple campus buildings: the Reitz Union, Tigert Hall, South Hall and Riker Hall.

Orlando said UF does not know when the power grid will be fixed, but an update is expected by the end of Wednesday.

Signage was put up at Criser and Peabody alerting students about the electrical problem.
