Florida cornerback J.C. Jackson not expected to return to the team

J.C. Jackson will not be returning to the Florida football team.

According to a report by Scout.com’s Florida Gators site, Fightin’ Gators, Jackson will not be permitted back onto the team because of a decision made by the University Athletic Association.

Jackson was arrested on April 18 in connection with an armed robbery at a Gainesville apartment complex.

Jackson was held in Alachua County jail on a $150,000 bond that was later posted.

According to Fightin’ Gators, Jackson’s armed robbery charge is expected to be dropped.

Jackson was expected to be a part of the rotation in the defensive backfield in the upcoming football season. Coach Jim McElwain and co-defensive coordinator Geoff Collins praised Jackson’s athletic ability during Spring practices.

Jackson received a medical redshirt last season after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.

He finished his career at Florida playing in one game and recording zero statistics.
