Today, the most passionate voters are either elated and beaming or distraught and anxious, perhaps even angry. The election has settled, but the dust certainly has not. The specter of competition still hangs in the air. We are sure there are some voters who woke up feeling a mix of disappointment and dread today. Whether the candidates you voted for won their race or not, you should feel proud that you cast a ballot. Most importantly, you should bear in mind that these results are not the end of the road for your cherished political causes. We urge our readers to stay vigilant, informed and engaged and to stay empathetic to their fellow Americans. This cannot be the winner’s moment to gloat and relish in victory. Our civic culture and common American bond depend on it.

It is unbelievable to me that so much is being done in the political world to prevent change, and no one seems to notice. Maybe I’m naive, or maybe I’m one of the few who can look past the division between parties and see that there is injustice coming from both sides. Voters continue to make decisions based directly on their party’s platform simply because of some eternal, unspoken grudge between Republicans and Democrats that creates nothing but stagnation and hatred. Isn’t the whole point of voting to work together to make a difference for the greater good? Aren’t we all better than this?

Frustrated, frantic and desperate, you are about to end your search for a decent study space on campus. Library West is at capacity. Marston Science Library is so full that the fire marshall would faint at the sight of it. Students are packed in like sardines. The sleep-deprived, zombie-like crowd smells strongly of fatigue and caffeine. The line for Starbucks stretches far into the distance, over the horizon and into the sunset. Several students give up hope and pitch tents for the night, huddle around campfires and roast weenies under the Marston French Fries. You still have one last spot to check: Newell Hall. You jog down the steps and past the Hub. Racing toward the doors, you fling them open and enter.
