There’s about 53 hours until Florida basketball will tip off in the NCAA Tournament. That includes three and a half hours of flights, a little over 40 minutes of bus travel and maybe a 12-hour hotel stay near the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. When the Gators wake on Friday, they’ll have their biggest game of the season so far: No. 16 seeded Norfolk State.

Halfway through the third quarter of Saturday’s match in Macon, Georgia, Florida lacrosse junior attacker Gianna Monaco had the ball in her stick just behind the goal. A defender was on her tight — which was not surprising, since she had already found the back of the net four times in the first half. She spun left, trying to find any space. Then, another defender picked her up.

Media outlets can't stop raving about the SEC’s dominance in men’s basketball this year. The conference is preparing to send a record of anywhere between 11 and 13 teams to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday. That’s impressive, but not the most jarring feat the conference achieved this week. That would come on the softball diamond.

Holding back a wide array of emotions as she stepped towards the floor, Florida senior Leanne Wong had the Stephen C. O’Connell Center watching her every move with intense eyes. Fans clapped and cheered along during her routine, gradually getting louder with each move. When her routine finished, the crowd was on their feet as Wong was mobbed by her teammates and coaches.
