Editor's note: in light of the Jameis Winston suspension, the Florida State-Clemson line is in fact FSU -15.5
Mother Nature got the best of Florida football on Saturday.
Some people go their entire lives without seeing one or knowing what one looks like, but Avanti cars will be going on display Saturday for the public to see.
Another year has come and gone for the alligatorSports Brand Picks Column, and we’re in a nostalgic mood.
In honor of this miserable season coming to a close, we at the alligatorSports Brand Picks Column would like to honor Florida’s bowl-less offseason. Well, no, that’s not entirely true. There will be plenty of bowls of chips to go around when the Gators are watching any one of 35 bowl games that they couldn’t get invited to. Make sure to remember the French onion dip!
We here at the alligatorSports Brand Picks Column are extraordinarily excited for this weekend. For the Georgia Southern-Florida game, you ask? Of course not. The second installment of the ‘Hunger Games’ series, “Catching Fire” premiered last night at midnight! If that doesn’t get your heart pumping, then we don’t know what’s wrong with you. Just watch the trailer, for crying out loud!
Sitting at 4-5 with a likely loss ahead of them in Columbia, S.C., the Gators could easily be batting .400 by weekend’s end. With that possibility in mind, as well as our nation’s recent observance of Veterans Day — thank you for your service — we here at the alligatorSports Brand Picks Column would like to talk about Ted Williams — Teddy Ballgame — the last man to bat better than .400 in Major League Baseball.
Listen up, pipsqueaks.
Baseball season is officially over.
Boo!
So, we here at the alligatorSports Brand Picks Column heard that the government was back in business and that they celebrated by raising the debt ceiling. Hooray!
Rapper Kanye West and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel reconciled on Wednesday’s edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and we here at the alligatorSports Brand Picks Column could not be more relieved. In fact, as the crew watched the pivotal, emotional exchange between West and Kimmel, there were some tears shed. But not a single one of us would Runaway. We considered this exchange a Good Life lesson. Even the most Heartless among us felt their love grow Stronger as we witnessed this spectacle of forgiveness and understanding.
The U.S. government may be shut down, but we here at the alligatorSports Brand Picks Column are still going strong. Unlike Congress, we don’t act like a bunch of petulant children when we disagree on issues — like picking college football games against the spread!
I don’t know if it has to do with the fact that we are creeping into fall or that Starbucks is advertising the pumpkin spice latte again, but I am always in the mood for pumpkin. It only seems fitting that we change our taste buds with the weather and of course pumpkin seems to be the flavor that has us nostalgic for the holidays.
We here at the alligatorSports Brand Picks Column know how to choose our words wisely.
Who’s excited for the annual butt-whoopin’ that’s become the jorts-wearing rednecks vs. those toothless hillbillies (DISCLAIMER: If you kiss your cousins, eat raccoon backstraps for breakfast, live in the hills and play the fiddle for Friday night entertainment, STOP READING!).
This week’s edition of the alligatorSports Brand Picks Column finds our crew soul-searching, desperate for meaning in our lives.
The alligatorSports crew embarks on its first road trip of the 2013 season this weekend, heading down the Florida Turnpike to Miami — the general home area of a few of our staff members. While down there, we plan to check out the farm that grows Adam Pincuses. We heard rumors of a radiation leak in the area during early 1992, so we’ll keep you posted. Either way, we expect a pretty exciting trek down to the Magic City. Last year’s inaugural road destination — College Station, Texas, — gave us the collegiate debut of Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel as well as a pretty terrifying I-10 standoff with a pissed-off cattle-truck driver. If you’re traveling down along with us, stay cool, be safe and hit up your South Florida friends for a Sun Pass. This week, we have Joe Morgan and Phil Heilman debating the Georgia-South Carolina game.
The Gators welcome the Rockets to town on Saturday as the college football season continues to hurtle through the atmosphere after blasting off Thursday night. We here at the alligatorSports Brand Picks Column believe this game would have been much more badass had they switched the location to the launching pad at the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral. I mean, c’mon. It’s the perfect marriage of Florida and rockets, or so we think. We welcome you to another season of the alligatorSports Brand Picks Column, where we all know that when it comes to picking against the spread, it’s a trap!
