I took the photo of Natalie Fernández and Alexander Lee while everyone was listening to the protest organizers speak. So many people were taking pictures of the speakers, and I decided I wanted to get reactions. I remember looking up and seeing Natalie's face while she jeered or cheered at whatever the speaker said. My instinct was to just take the picture and walk away. When I was in the back scrolling through the content I had, I realized how impactful her expression was and knew I had to find her and Alexander and ask for their names. To me, this picture makes a person realize how deeply people care about who speaks at our school, what vision we portray as a whole and how powerful and impactful students can be.
