Audrey Batzer, left, and Avalon Hoek Spaans, both 20-year-old UF environmental science students, receive a $1,500 prize for having the most innovative idea at UF’s One World conference, during which six student teams present their ideas to make the world sustainable. Batzer and Hoek Spaan’s company, called “Ferns for Feed,” would promote the growth of the azolla fern, which would be used for fertilizer, feed and to combat global warming.
